7 C's Of Leadership
[00:00:00] Hello, everyone. My name is Shine Bujunsal. I am the proud creator of Neuroshine Technology, ICF certified NLP and coach trainer, ICF certified coach, and leadership professor at UCLA extension.
And that's exactly what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk about Leadership. We're going to talk about seven C's of leadership to be specific. This is my content that I have been teaching at UCLA Extension since 2012. Seven Cs of leadership is going to give you the framework of your leadership skills and qualities that you can look and evaluate and then improve. If you're ready, let's go.
Number one is consciousness. Consciousness refers to awareness, [00:01:00] how the leaders Persuade themselves how aware they are about their personality, about their goals and dreams and their behaviors. If you are a leader who is unaware, forget it. You're not going to be able to lead yourself. Then how are you going to lead others? That's why it all begins with your consciousness, your level of awareness, so that you can be a leader, not only by your influence, but also by becoming an example.
Number two is confidence. Leaders are people who show this incredible, unshakable, undeniable level of confidence. What do I mean when I talk about confidence? To put in a simple Perspective. Confidence is your ability to figure things out, no matter what the challenge is, no matter what the obstacle, the problem [00:02:00] is, you have this unshakable belief, this faith, inner faith that you believe no matter what happens, you are going to figure it out. You're going to find a way. If it is a new skill you need to learn, you're going to learn it. If it is a new team you need to build, you're going to go build it. Why? Because you have confidence.
Number three is calling. This is where we go a little bit deep. Calling refers to your existential reasoning, your existential intelligence, and your existential reason why you are a leader to begin with. What's life about? Why do you exist? What is your life purpose? What is your true calling? And leaders have clarity about their own existential reasoning. When they have that clarity, they can go ahead and clearly communicate it to others around them. So everybody joins because it's now a bigger cause and everybody can [00:03:00] join the cause. And that's why Calling is a big part of your leadership skills.
Number four is commitment. Well, as you can imagine, if you take an action, if it doesn't go in the way that you want, and then if you stop, what kind of leadership is that? Right? You're not even leading yourself to see it through. You're not even willing to overcome the challenges and to grow with it. So then leaders are required to have a certain level of commitment, determination, persistence, and commitment. That commitment is about achieving the goal, leading the team, leading the organization. If you are leading teams, if you're leading projects, you need to commit to get it done. You need to commit that you cannot give up. You cannot say all of a sudden, Oh, you [00:04:00] know what? I don't want to do it anymore. That, that is not going to happen. And that needs to be the - your level of commitment, whatever is that for.
Number five is control. When I say control, I'm actually referring to your self regulation. As a leader, you are required to have self regulation. You're required to have self discipline, and as part of emotional intelligence, this skill of self regulation is going to be needed a lot. You're going to have problems, and you cannot just lose control and start yelling at people. If you are in a big role in a big organization, people are looking up to you. People are going to learn from you. They're going to be motivated by you. They're going to be inspired, how you face challenges and how you show up with courage and faith, no matter how big the problem is, they are looking at you, they're watching you. [00:05:00] And that's why your level of control is going to mean a lot to anybody. And here's a little distinction I want to share right here, right now, because as I am working with a lot of executives and providing leadership coaching for managers and executives at big organizations, what I am noticing is that. When you are a leader, when you have the control, you might miss that control. By controlling others. And that's not what we're talking about. You are only going to control your own reactions, your language, and behaviors, and your thoughts, and how you show up. You're not supposed to control people's behaviors. You're not supposed to tell them what to do and repel them. That's not what we are talking about and a leader is supposed to know where you need to let go of the control and leave it to others.
Number six is [00:06:00] charisma. Well, don't we know this? Leaders are these amazing, charming personalities that sometimes you just look and you get inspired because they have some sort of charisma. They have this charm that you are drawn to. They have this magnetic personality and you're like, like, how's that? Like, I, I just want to be around this person and that charisma. is something that you can improve. You know, there's something called charisma enhancement. You can work on your charisma. There are ways that you can learn to be more charismatic. And that is a big part of your leadership skill set.
Last but not least is contribution. This last C of all the other Cs is why you are a leader to begin with. Because you make a difference. Because you are committed to [00:07:00] contribute and to show up in the world with A bigger purpose to make this world a better place. You are leading something because that's your calling. You are leading a team, an organization, a business, a project, because you're contributing, you're making something better. Than it is. And that is what leadership is all about.
