They're also known as hormones but the exact wording is neurotransmitter. The reason is because, you know you have nerve cells in your brain, so you have about like hundred billion neurons, nerve cells.

These nerve cells, they fire nerve impulses and these neurotransmitters almost like messengers carrying that information, carrying that impulse from one nerve to the other creating those synapses.

So when you think about these neurotransmitters, think of them as your chemical messengers inside your brain.
